Tents4Peace is calling for urgent donations so that it can supply emergency shelter to some of the one million people who have been left homeless in Burma.
Cyclone Nargis has devastated Burma. Over 100,000 people are feared dead or missing with the numbers increasing daily.
We are supplying waterproof shelter and water purification tablets.
The rainy season has begun in Burma and the stagnant water and poor sanitation will cause the spread of water borne diseases such as cholera and malaria.

It is imperative that the tents/ tarpaulins are sent as quickly as possible. Current information from inside Burma is that tarpaulins will be especially useful as a multipurpose shelter also to collect fresh rainwater thus helping to save lives.
Please donate purchase waterproof shelter and water purification tablets for $100.
We need another $20,000 by the end of the week to complete this emergency project to assist the people of Burma in their time of greatest need.
You have given an amazingly generous response to the ‘Tents for Burma Project’ and we now have enough funds to commence our first distribution of tarpaulins and water purification tablets to those in most need in the Irrawaddy Delta of Burma.
We have a team of professionals within Burma, including nine specialist doctors who have worked in the Delta area for the past 2 years. We also have contact with some monks and nuns in Burma who are able to assist us.
Our aid will be distributed at grass roots level and we have organized this distribution in such a way that we will be able to move quickly without interference from the military junta.
Many thousands of homeless people are now suffering from hunger. The United Nations reports that cholera and other diseases are now setting in. This will be compounded by the prediction of a further cyclone and heavy monsoonal rain.
Your generous donation of funds is enabling us to keep life saving aid moving quickly into the village areas of the Delta, until aid through the larger NGO’s arrives.
