Tents4Peace's main objective is to supply short term emergency shelter and necessities, as quickly as possible, with negligible administration costs, in times of natural disaster or war.
Where possible as a secondary initiative, Tents4Peace provides follow up support in the form of infrastructure and long term programs to endeavour to help those affected by the initial disaster become self-sufficient.
We are a non-profit registered organisation and we work through grass-roots community involvement in Australia, and also at ground level in the area where we are working.
The numbers on our governing body is kept to a bare minimum and all our office-bearers work in a voluntary capacity.
We have a separate account for our administration funds, and our supporters from time to time may pay small amounts into this account to cover costs.
All funds raised go towards the project for which they were raised.
We have been sustained by ordinary people working in a voluntary capacity without major infrastructure or corporate support.
We are not affiliated to any religion, we have no political alignment and we remain totally independent.
Our emphasis is working along side, and with the people we assist, and we do not try to change their culture or their beliefs.
In rebuilding communities affected by the initial disaste,r emphasis is placed on organic shelter, agriculture and the acceptance of diversity and differences in other cultures.
