Tents4Peace's main objective is to supply short term emergency shelter, as quickly as possible, with negligible administration costs, in times of natural disaster or war.
It is a non-profit organisation founded by Anna Crotty, which works through grass roots community involvement in Australia and also at ground level in the area where we are working.
The projects of Tents4Peace have been sustained by ordinary people working in a voluntary capacity without major infrastructure or corporate support.
Tents4Peace is holistic. We do not believe in doing for others, when if given the right circumstances, they can do for themselves.
Where possible as a secondary initiative, Tents4Peace provides follow up support.
In Afghanistan and the North West Province of Pakistan, we supplied winterised tents. We were then able to go on to build an orphanage to house 250 widows and children. The lower floor of the orphanage has been ultised as a training centre where some of the children and widows are able to learn skills that increase their chance of employment.
We also have a community house in the suburbs of Kabul, housing and educating widows.
In rebuilding communities emphasis is placed on organic shelter, agriculture and the acceptance of diversity and differences in other cultures.
Tents4Peace is totally independent organisation and has no political or religious affiliations.
